Investment facilitation
Connecting capital with projects
Qualified African projects and the capital that could finance them rarely meet in a form either side can act on. We introduce the two, under confidentiality, and prepare both for a transaction.
The problem it solves
Sovereign funds, DFIs and institutional investors in the US, the Gulf and Europe see many African opportunities and few that arrive investment-ready: a credible sponsor, a government counterparty that has approved the procurement route, a feasibility base and a clear path to close. Sponsors, for their part, seldom know which investor mandate their project fits or what that investor will need before a first meeting.
Our work closes that gap. We screen projects against the published mandates of the investors we know, prepare the materials an investment committee expects, and make introductions only when both sides have cleared our know-your-counterparty checks.
What Ephesus delivers
- Project screening against investor criteria: sector, country, size, stage, currency and return profile
- Expression of interest and concept proposal to the government or sponsor, in the format the counterparty’s PPP unit or investment committee uses
- Non-disclosure and non-circumvention agreement (NDNC) and memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the parties
- Data-room preparation: feasibility studies, legal basis, approvals pathway, risk matrix
- Investor introductions and first meetings, with the sponsor and government counterparty prepared in advance
- Transaction preparation through term sheet and conditions precedent, alongside counsel and the investor’s own lenders and managers
Who we work alongside
Licensed fund managers where a pooled vehicle is used; legal counsel in the host country and in the investor’s jurisdiction; lenders and DFIs; technical and environmental advisers. We hold no client funds and do not place, arrange or distribute securities.
